After travelling for Business and pleasure for over 30 years the best tip I can give for a smooth check-in, through customs/immigration and any transit is to have a travel wallet with individual compartments and put your passport, tickets, hotel bookings and any other travel documents in the same compartment every time. So many times I have seen passengers trying to find their ticket or passports holding up other passengers and everyone getting quite frustrated. You will never ever again get flusted at an airport again.
